This is an on-going blog post. I will update it as we get more pictures. This is an awesome floor we installed and finished in Boston. I think this room took us about a week to complete. The border was tongue and grooved into the field and every piece is glued and nailed in place. Finished in Vermeister water based finish we think it hit the nail on the head!
This is level one of a 4 level home on Marlborough st. I will try to get more photos as we put last coats on everything. This was a very challenging floor! This is a hickory floor that has a hand scraped texture and hand eased edges. Carlisle calls it footworn, we call it awesome. But it is very challenging to glue and nail this plank flooring and then hand sand it to preserve the texture. This to be followed by hand dye'ing and hand staining!
The designer on this project gave us a sample that she wanted to match. It happened to be a veneer'ed board that was actually mahogany! So with this in mind we utilized W.D. Lockwood aniline dye and stain to get the color we needed out of the hickory floor. Finished with x-matte, we think it came out great. |
